In
Cunningham and Cunningham’s article about Making Words, invented spelling is
pointed out as an integral part of reading and writing. To develop decoding
abilities, guided invented spelling should be used along with activities such
as Making Words.
Making
Words activities are great to use when teaching first and second grade. The

exciting part of Making Words is finding the secret word at the end of the
